For which vehicles is the Scout 12k suitable?
The Carbon Offroad 12k is the all-around solution for the most common off-road platforms. We have already successfully installed it on the following vehicles:

Installation & Connection of the Carbon Offroad Winch
Installing a winch requires precision. The Scout 12k features a standardized mounting pattern (254 mm x 114.3 mm) and therefore fits into most standard winch bumpers or hidden mounting kits.
Electrical System: The winch is connected directly to the vehicle battery. We recommend using a battery disconnect switch (bone-shaped).
Relay box: The Scout Series box can be mounted directly above the drum or (depending on space) offset from it.
Pro Tip: When installing, ensure that the motor is adequately ventilated and that the heavy-duty power cables are routed so they won't rub against anything.
Caring for Your Synthetic Rope to Maximize Its Lifespan
A synthetic rope is sensitive to UV light and does not tolerate sand in its fibers. Cleaning: Rinse the rope after use in muddy conditions. Visual inspection: Check the rope regularly for fraying or heat damage (melted areas). Proper Coiling: Coil the rope evenly under a light load so that it does not cut into the lower layers during the next recovery operation.
Why should I choose a synthetic rope instead of a steel cable?
The synthetic rope (Dyneema) used in the Carbon Offroad Scout series offers three key advantages:
Safety: In the event of a rope break, it absorbs virtually no energy and does not whip back dangerously. Weight: It is significantly lighter, which reduces your vehicle’s front-axle load. Handling: There are no sharp wires (meat hooks), it doesn’t rust, and it’s easier to wind on and off.
Is the Carbon Offroad Scout winch really completely waterproof?
Yes, the Scout series is certified to IP68. This means that the motor and gearbox are protected against continuous submersion in water. This is especially important for river crossings or use in deep mud. Nevertheless, we recommend briefly cleaning the winch after extreme use and winding the rope up while it is dry.
Do I need a second battery for the Carbon Offroad 12k?

In Germany, the winch itself generally does not need to be registered as long as it does not alter the vehicle’s dimensions (e.g., concealed installation). However, the winch mount or the corresponding winch bumper requires an expert opinion or an ABE and usually must be registered. We’d be happy to advise you on the right mounting kits for your vehicle.
